Things to do this Summer!!!!

School is coming to close and summer is almost upon us. Days are getting longer and the weather is getting nicer so everyone should be trying to get outside more and more. For parents this is a stressful time because they are trying to figure out what to do with their kids. Here is a link to different options that the Thompson School District offers, it is called the Friday Folder Extras!!!

Fitness Testing

It is that time of year! All of the schools are doing their fitness testing for the students. Students will be tested in the Mile Run, Push Ups, Sit ups, and the Sit and Reach. Ask your student how they did and see if they can beat what they did at the end of summer.

Circus Unit

The next unit that the students will be working on with Mr. Ben is a Circus Unit!

The students will be learning to juggle different types of objects as well as learning how to balance objects on different body parts. The last part of the until the students will learn how to spin different objects on the ground and on their fingers. So ask your students about balancing, spinning, or juggling!

Just like last year I am asking for $35 per swimmer to put towards pool costs. Checks to Loveland Special Olympics – Aquatics. But no athlete will be turned away because this is too much to pay.

Please pass this on to anyone else you know who may be interested in swimming as an athlete or as a volunteer, or if I have missed their address.

It would only be $25 for the season for any athlete joining us now – all money raised goes towards paying for the pool rental.
Athletes who have never been involved with Special Olympics need to fill out a medical/waiver. And it must be done every 3 years. Here is the link  http://www.specialolympicsco.org/images/SOCO_Athlete_Participation_App.pdf ]http://www.specialolympicsco.org/images/SOCO_Athlete_Participation_App.pdf
No special appt is necessary at the doctor’s office if the athlete has seen the doctor in the past 6 months or so. The family should be able to drop the paperwork off at the doctor’s office and collect it in 24-72 hours, depending on the turnaround at the office.
